NASE Statement in Support of Contreras-Sweet as Small Business Administrator

WASHINGTON, D.C.
– As the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee unanimously approves the nomination of Maria Contreras-Sweet as the next Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Katie Vlietstra, Vice President for Government Relations and Public Affairs at the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, today released the following statement voicing her enthusiastic support for the new Administrator-designate:

“On behalf of the 23 million smallest businesses in America, we enthusiastically offer our support to the immensely qualified Maria Contreras-Sweet to lead the Small Business Administration.

The year ahead is full of critical challenges we are eager to work with the leadership of the SBA to address.  Those challenges range from the implementation of the new health care law to tax filing changes and the continued inequity in the tax code faced by the self-employed.

If America’s smallest businesses are to thrive, it is essential our community have a strong and vocal advocate inside the Administration.  We are optimistic about Ms. Contreras-Sweet’s ability to lead the SBA and to ensure we have the tools and resources needed to be competitive in both a local and global marketplace.”
