NASE Teams With UnitedHealthOne For More Options In Health Coverage

Posted by Maureen Petron -- The NASE recognizes how important health coverage is for micro-businesses and their families. We believe that micro-businesses deserve to have access to a health care plan that fits their needs and their budget. That’s why we have been working to expand the number of health care choices we make available to our members.

Today we’re excited to announce that the NASE has teamed up with UnitedHealthcare’s Golden Rule Insurance Company to offer new personal health insurance choices to entrepreneurs, micro-business owners and other self-employed businesspeople in 20 states and Washington, D.C.

The health plans through Golden Rule give options to NASE Members including co-pay plans similar to traditional employer-sponsored coverage as well as high deductible health plans that work in tandem with health savings accounts (HSAs).

NASE Members choosing one of the health plans will also have access to UnitedHealthcare’s extensive network of more than 600,000 physicians and health care professionals and 5,000 hospitals. Network discounts can result in additional savings to consumers, even before they meet their annual deductibles.

The new comprehensive health plans for individuals and families are offered in:
• Alabama
• Arizona
• Arkansas
• Florida
• Illinois
• Indiana
• Iowa
• Michigan
• Mississippi
• Missouri
• Nebraska
• Oklahoma
• Pennsylvania
• South Carolina
• Tennessee
• Texas
• Virginia
• Wisconsin
• Washington, D.C.

If you live in North Carolina and West Virginia, hold on! The plans are expected to be available in those states in March.

For more information on the new health plans, call Golden Rule at 800-338-9258 and speak to a licensed product advisor for your state, or call NASE at 800-649-6273. You can also request a quote here.

Meet the NASE Staff Bloggers

Kristin Oberlander
- In public affairs, my job is to serve as a link between the association, micro-businesses and the media. When I have down time, I enjoy drinking large quantities of coffee, contemplating how I will cram one more pair of (un)needed shoes into my closet and finding creative ways to remove my dog’s hair from my clothes, car, own hair and food. My biggest pet peeve is drivers who don’t understand 4-way stops.

- I help out with the NASE’s legislative advocacy, communications, and public relations. From attending hearings on the Hill to helping select the cover design for the member magazine, I’ve always got something new going on. I like practicing yoga, running through different parts of the city, and I’m an admitted etymology/grammar nerd.

- As President, one of my chief roles is to educate legislators and the media on how key issues such as health care, tax, and the lagging economy affect the self-employed. When I am not speaking out for our members, I spend my time helping my husband with his small business.
