MEDIA AVAIL: ACA OPEN ENROLLMENT

Small Business Experts Available to Discuss Open Enrollment of Health Care Season

Issues to Beware of During the Open Enrollment Period, Automatic Enrollment of Coverage & Consumer Protection Provisions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As health care’s open enrollment season kicks off this week, small business experts are available to discuss what entrepreneurs and the small business community need to know during this critical time.

  • Katie Vlietstra, Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs at the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-business community.
  • Rhett Buttle, the founder of Public Private Strategies, a consulting firm with a focus on where the public and private sector meet. Previously, he was appointee on The White House Business Council and the director of private sector engagement in the Office of the HHS Secretary from 2014-2016, where he worked on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He is currently a senior advisor to Get America Covered.

Topics for Discussion:

  • Open Enrollment Term: The period now runs between November 1st through December 15th
  • Options Available: Entrepreneurs and small businesses can still access health care plans and new options on the Individual Marketplace
  • Automatic Enrollment: It now occurs after the December 15th deadline – don’t get locked into an unwanted plan
  • Support Available: Help is available through the healthcare.gov website and via phone
  • Key Provisions Still Apply: Consumer protections and Essential Health Benefit provisions still apply

To Speak with Katie or Rhett, please contact Kristofer Eisenla at 202-670-5747 or Kristofer@lunaeisenlamedia.com
