Vlietstra Named Vice President for the National Association for the Self-Employed

New Responsibilities for Managing Washington, D.C. Operations, including Government Relations and Public Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Keith Hall, President and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) – the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses - today announced that Katie Vlietstra will be promoted to Vice President for Government Relations and Public Affairs. The newly enhanced position will cover a broad range of activities including managing the Washington, DC office, but also directing all government relations and public affairs activities. Vlietstra was formerly NASE’s Director of Government Affairs.

“In this new position, Katie will manage NASE’s Washington, D.C. operation while continuing to educate policymakers about the self-employed – an important small business demographic – and advocate on our behalf,” said Hall. “She will also take on managing all public affairs activities in promoting the association through the media as our spokesperson on all major policy and political initiatives.

Over the past two years, Katie’s work has helped small and micro business owners gain an instrumental voice at the public policy table both in Congress and throughout the country.  We look forward to her continuing contributions and congratulate her on this new endeavor.”

Katie brings nine years of government affairs experience, which includes successes in the legislative and regulatory arenas in both the public and private sector, in executing the NASE’s legislative and advocacy strategy.  In previous roles, she has worked on nearly every issue, including Internet sales tax, hurricane recovery, immigration, fair labor standards act, tax, health care, and transportation.  While she doesn’t claim to have a favorite issue, she loves the processes and procedures of lawmaking.
