Rule Negatively Impacts Small Businesses, Wastes Time and Money

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With news that Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta will allow the fiduciary rule to take effect June 9, 2017, Katie Vlietstra, Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations for the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, today released the following statement:

“The implementation of the fiduciary rule by the Trump Administration is disastrous for American small businesses.  This rule is yet another example of an overly burdensome regulation and exactly the type of regulation President Trump promised to eliminate in order for small businesses to flourish. A one size fits all regulation, just further drives costs up for America's smallest businesses.

“We are deeply disappointed by this decision. It is our hope that the Trump Administration doesn’t continue to put forth regulation’s that are harmful to small businesses."

Vlietstra responded to a New York Times editorial in February on this topic.
