NASE Op-Ed: Ensuring the Healthcare System Works for All

The United States Supreme Court’s recent, historic decision in King v. Burwell, upholding the right of federal premium assistance, guaranteed millions of Americans the right to keep their healthcare. Last month’s ruling, along with the previous 2012 Supreme Court decision affirming the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, was a profound victory for the ideal that healthcare should be a right of all Americans – rich or poor, individual or small business owner. These decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court mark the existence – and importance -- of the nation’s new healthcare system by keeping the law in tact and establishing a precedent for future debates regarding healthcare in America.

Bi-Partisan, Bicameral HRA Legislation Introduced, Finally

Leaders in the Senate and House introduced bi-partisan legislation that would allow for small business, 49 or less employees, to provide for Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) as a means to financially support their employees in the purchase of health insurance and/or other qualified medical expenses.

NASE Supports the Use of Payroll Cards in Letter to CFPB

The bill was introduced by Representatives Boustany (R-LA) and Thompson (D-CA).

NASE Asks For HRA Reprieve for 2015

The NASE along with the Council for Affordable Health Coverage, National Association for Home Builders, and the National Federation of Independent Business, asked congressional leaders to consider including language championed by Congressman Blackburn (R-TN) that would "prohibit the application of certain health insurance market requirements (no lifetime or annual limits and coverage of preventive health services) for Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and similar accounts used by a small employer in 2015."
