Let The NASE Put Money In Your Pocket

Linda and Gary Porcello of Ashtabula, Ohio, are happy NASE Members right now. Linda was the 50,000th caller to our ShopTalk 800 line. To celebrate that milestone, the NASE honored the Porcellos with a free trip to the annual meeting in Arlington, Texas. We also gave the couple a free business evaluation and free tax preparation services.

The Porcellos' call wasn’t their first to ShopTalk 800. They had turned to the advice line for help with several business matters: ideas about how to identify competitors, assistance in setting a monetary value on business goodwill, a critique of their business plan. ShopTalk 800’s Gene Fairbrother always gave sound advice.

The Porcellos take full advantage of their NASE membership. Along with ShopTalk 800, they’ve relied on the NASE’s MoneyTalk line for personal financial advice from certified financial planners and certified public accountants.

Many other NASE Members have done the same. We estimate that in 1997 alone, NASE Members saved more than a quarter of a million dollars in consulting fees just by using these two services.

Those two benefits represent only a fraction of the free and reduced-price services available to NASE Members. An NASE Member in Virginia recently told me about her experience with shipping a defective computer back to the manufacturer. She called several overnight shippers and got quotes of more than $150. Then she called Airborne Express, and using her NASE discount, she received a quote of just $75. With that one transaction, she noted, she saved more than the entire annual cost of her Access NASE membership. That meant all the other benefits offered from the NASE -- car and truck rental discounts, access to discounted dental care, travel reservations, office supplies and business books, not to mention Self-Employed America and effective legislative advocacy on her behalf -- were essentially free.

The NASE also offers access to insurance products, provided by various insurance companies that we endorse. Each insurance policy that carries the NASE endorsement -- whether it is health, life, disability, accidental death, auto, recreational vehicle, boat or commercial vehicle insurance -- is carefully tailored to the special needs of the self-employed.

So let me make a request. If you’re reading this and thinking “I’ve saved a lot of money with my NASE membership,” then tell your friends and business associates about the NASE.

The greater our numbers, the more benefits and better prices we can offer. With more than 325,000 members today, we’re already the largest business association in the nation serving the smallest of small businesses. With your help recruiting new members, we can become the single most effective business association in the country.
