Since the advent of social media in the early 2000s, the business world has experienced a remarkable turnaround. With the aid of the broad spectrum of social media networks available such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram, to mention a few, communication and advertisement have been diversified and made accessible. As a result, customer behavior towards products has also changed tremendously. 

The social media space allows for the rapid exchange of information and ideas to a large audience within a short time. As a result, self-employed and business owners worldwide have adopted social media to improve customer interaction and sharing of product information, thereby encouraging business growth. 

The following are the ways by which you can use social media to achieve growth in your business:

Identify and grow your audience 

Your audience is made up of potential clients. As a  business owner, you have a lot on your table to combat. You may not be able to open an account on all social media handles, hence the need to know who your products are and where a vast number of them are. For example, suppose your business is writing. In that case, the vast majority of your audience may not be on Instagram, so you may want to leverage having a Twitter account and tweeting things in line with your writing business. 

Build the trust of your audience and existing customers 

 Constant communication with your audience helps build their trust in your business. With the aid of social media platforms, you can be in constant communication with your audience. You can also perform a variety of activities that will build trust. 

Advertise your business easily 

Advertisement is showcasing your products to the public. As a small business owner, you may not be able to afford advertising on TV or with an advertisement company. Social media networks allow you to advertise your business for free to as many people as possible at the same time. Social media advertisement is easier and more effective than the old and traditional means of advertising.

Know what your competition is doing 

As a business owner, knowing what your competition is doing will help you learn from them and also re-strategize if need be. 

Alexa, and Infinigraph, among others, are tools you can use to research what your competition is doing.

Using social media influencers

Social media influencers have gained popularity on social media as a result of what they do - comedy, music, modeling, to mention a few. In addition, influencers help their followers trust whatever brand they are advertising for. 

In conclusion, social media networks have played a significant role in the growth of many businesses and in ensuring start-up businesses' popularity. However, as a business owner, you have to learn to play your cards right to drive traffic and bring sales to your business. Knowing how to harness the power of social media is one of the effective ways you can do that.
