New Entrepreneurship Initiatives Announced by Commerce Secretary

Oct 19, 2009
Posted by Molly Nelson - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke recently announced plans to create a new Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Department of Commerce, and start a National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship that will advise the Department on small business policy.

According to a Department of Commerce press release, the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship "will drive policies that help entrepreneurs translate new ideas, products and services into economic growth."  The National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be made up of a spectrum of entrepreneurs and small business leaders, and will advise the Department and the administration and also facilitate communication with the small business community.

For more information, please see the Department of Commerce press release.
