Securing Your Ideas

Dec 07, 2009
Posted by Molly Nelson - Entrepreneur, professor and author Steve Blank has a parable worth reading about one of his experiences with having his ideas and work appropriated by others without credit.

I would recommend reading the whole post, but for those busy with the holiday rush, here are Blank's takeaway lessons:

  • If you put your ideas into a presentation, assume that your competitors and everyone else are likely (if not guaranteed) to get their hands on those slides;
  • Never put proprietary, patentable, TOP SECRET anything on presentation slides;
  • If you include diagrams or drawings that you created on presentation slides, be sure to include your initials and the date.
