A Holiday Present from the FTC

Dec 14, 2009
Posted by Molly Nelson - Season's greetings!  The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) wanted to remind you that all three of the nationwide consumer reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) are required by law to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.

If you don't regularly look at your credit report, this might be a very timely present, especially because the nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your credit report to creditors, insurers, employers and other businesses, and if they know what is in your credit report you should as well!

You can order your free annual credit report in different ways:
           Annual Credit Report Request Service
           P.O. Box 105281
          Atlanta, GA 30348-5281

Check out the FTC's brochure on credit reports, and find more information at FTC.gov.
