NASE Partners with Small Business Administration to Help Entrepreneurs Start, Grow and Succeed

WASHINGTON, DC – The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for self-employed and micro-businesses, today saluted America’s 23 million smallest businesses for their contributions to our national and local economies during this week’s National Small Business Week. NASE is a partner of The Small Business Administration (SBA), who is holding events around the country to showcase the power and influence of America’s small business community.

“America’s smallest businesses, the self-employed and micro-businesses, are the true engine of our economy,” said Katie Vlietstra, Vice President for Government Relations and Public Affairs. “Representing over 75 percent of the small business community, our nation’s smallest businesses are helping to lift up our mom-and-pop operations while supporting the entrepreneurial sprit of sole proprietorships and micro-businesses. We at NASE are proud to stand with the SBA and sponsor this national effort devoted to our small business community.  It is important that we help these new and existing entrepreneurs grow and succeed from financial and training support on main street to policy making in the Halls of Congress.”

Every year since 1963, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight through National Small Business Week the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories.  This year’s events will be held May 12-16, which kicks-off on May 12 in San Francisco. The celebrations will continue through May 16 with similar events in Kansas City, May 13; Boston, May 15; and Washington, D.C., May 15-16, that will offer tips, tools and trainings for small businesses to start, succeed and grow. Activities in all four cities will feature national level speakers, workshops, expert panels on a variety of entrepreneurial topics, and business matchmaking opportunities. The national celebrations will culminate with the presentation of the National Small Business Person of the Year award in Washington. D.C., on May 16. You can learn more at: http://www.sba.gov/nsbw/. The dedicated hastag to this year’s SBW is: #SBW2014

The NASE has incorporated its Small Business Locator onto its website, helping to connect customers with services they need that are provided by our nation’s small businesses. This online network allows our members and the public to locate, collaborate and engage with each other to foster their professional needs.
