NASE Applauds Record-Breaking Entrepreneurship During National Small Business Week

Surge in Small Business Startups Over the Last Two Years Highlight the Importance of National Small Business Week, May 2-5

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With a surge in new small business startups over the last two years that are reshaping the face of the American workforce, the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, is drawing attention to the importance of recognizing this year’s National Small Business week to celebrate these new entrepreneurs who have joined a robust business demographic.

In honor of National Small Business Week next week form May 2-5,  Keith Hall, NASE president and CEO encouraged the “public to join in support of American entrepreneurship by shopping small and supporting a small business policy landscape to foster growth among these new startups.”

Hall continued, “National Small Business Week is also an opportunity to recognize the changing face of what it means to be a small business owner in today’s economy.  From freelancers and the self-employed to gig-economy workers and family-owned small businesses, these entrepreneurs are changing the American workforce one new business application at a time.”

Over the last 40 years, the National Association for the Self-Employed supports the small business community through advocating for strong self-employment economic policies, as well as financial support to its small business members. NASE has awarded over $1,000,000 since the inception of the association’s Growth Grant program. NASE continues to offer an expanded quarterly Growth Grant program to its small business members on a rolling basis. The association also hosts a variety of free informational services from the NASE Minute on small business advice and guidance to “Ask the Experts” where members have 24-hour outreach to experts in various fields from accounting to legal advice.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is also celebrating National Small Business Week with a virtual summit, Building a Better America Through Entrepreneurship.

“Whether you are newly self-employed, a solo-contractor or one of the millions of our nation’s legacy smallest employers,  you truly are the spirit of America’s future economic security. We salute your determination, resiliency, and persistence even during difficult times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you are a new COVID-era startup or a third-generation family-owned business, we applaud you and ask the American people to join us in our support by shopping local and supporting your growth,” concluded Hall.
