Can A Small-Business Incubator Help Your Business?

May 12, 2010
Posted by Maureen Petron -- One of the stops for the NASE TaxTalk seminar tour this month was at the Enterprise Center at Salem State College on Boston’s North Shore, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center.

The Enterprise Center is a small-business incubator and educational center. Business owners can go for seminars, one-on-one training, and even rent low-cost space to house their start-up. The center is home to over 30 businesses, each with a small office, and close access to peers and counselors.

These business incubators are expanding nationwide, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article. According to the article, there are approximately 1,200 incubator programs across the country, offering “start-ups commercial space to grow their ventures for below-market lease rates, plus free counseling, administrative support and services in areas such as human resources, information technology and marketing.”
