Even Stephen Colbert Has Gone to Work in His Slippers...What About You?

Thursday, July 08, 2010

Posted by Kristie Arslan - Ever watch "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central?  Recently, host Stephen Colbert went to work in his bunny slippers, courtesy of the NASE's Not So 'Bunny' Campaign.

Take a look:

The NASE has been working hard to get the word out to policymakers and media about the important role the self-employed and micro-businesses play in our nation's economy.  We are trying to chip away at the stereotype that America's smallest businesses simply sit home in their pajamas and slippers and don't contribute much to their community and local economy.   To do this, we need your help!

To raise awareness of that message, we are looking for business owners willing to wear their slippers to work.

Help us by posting a photo of yourself at work in your slippers on our Facebook wall
or sending it to us at

We also want to know how your business helps provide for your family and contributes to your local economy because we know it’s significant.

  • Is your business the primary source of household income for your family?
  • Did your business help put your child through school?
  • Does working from home allow you to care for your children and/or an elderly or ill family member?
  • Does your business give back to your local community by contributing to a charity or sponsoring a local sports team?

Share your story with us so we can let the world know that the self-employed matter!
