Forget Black Friday - It's Time For Small Business Saturday

Nov 12, 2010
Posted by Molly Nelson - While I do consider myself a morning person, I've never been enough of a morning person to participate in Black Friday shopping. I usually find the early morning hours of the Friday after Thanksgiving to be better spent sleeping. However, I am totally in support of American Express OPEN declaring the Saturday after Thanksgiving to be Small Business Saturday.

According to Inc., Small Business Saturday is good for businesses and shoppers - "American Express will give $100 in free Facebook advertising to the first 10,000 businesses that sign up for the program. Businesses can created a custom, geo-located ad that will run on Facebook leading up to November 27th by entering a few pieces of information on the site. Entrepreneurs can also download promotional materials and use various social media tools to promote their businesses on Small Business Saturday. Businesses must sign up by November 18 to qualify."

Plus, the first 100,000 people to register their AmEx card and use it at independent businesses on Small Business Saturday (November 27th) will receive a $25 credit on their statements.

Businesses should sign up here to participate!
