Hydrate Your Body

Hydrate Your Body

Water does more than quench your thirst. Did you know that 60%-70% of your body is made of water? That means that each part of your body heavily relies on water to function properly. Regulating body temperature, helping nutrients travel to organs, protecting joints and organs and removing waste all are made possible with the help of water.

That might explain why your doctor encourages you to consume fluids while you are ill. When your body fights illness or infection, it relies on something to flush the system of toxins. Water reduces fever and helps nutrients reach the areas that need attention. Even athletes drink water to replenish what they lose during times of extreme exertion. Plus, the intake of water protects their joints and organs from wear and tear.

But, why should you drink water regularly if you are not sick or playing sports? Your body naturally loses water through urination, respiration and sweat. Even when you workout, encounter hot days, are pregnant or nursing, travel or consume alcohol, you need to consume more water. Replenishing water is important for your body to continue working the way it should.

Drinking water has many advantages, and recognizing the great things about consuming the clear, odorless liquid may make it more appealing.

Lose Weight
Many people think they are hungry, but their bodies might crave something liquid. Instead of grabbing a salty bag of chips, reach for a glass of water. The liquid might fill your stomach and give it the feeling of fullness. Practicing this habit helps you lose weight. Water keeps metabolism and digestion working properly by burning fats and breaking down foods. After the digestion process, water carries the nutrients to your organs.

Healthy Skin
Drink water and save on those skin care needs. Water from the inside out moisturizes skin. Hydration prevents skin from aging as quickly and provides a healthy appearance. There is no makeup that can equal the advantages of having a natural glow and great skin!

Relieve Stress
As your day grows more hectic or things simply don’t go your way, stress might creep up on you and make the day a complete wash. Drink some water. It relieves stress by thinning out your blood, which is 80% water. Once the blood gets moving smoother, your stress level should alleviate to a manageable level.

Flushes the System
Cleansing your bodily system is another advantage of water. Toxins and nutrients your body does not need are flushed out so that your body can work with the elements it needs to operate properly. This also keeps your body in good health and keeps your energy levels at the right level. In addition, it keeps your bowel movements on a regular, healthy schedule.

Improves Overall Health
When your body is fighting illness, drinking water helps your immune system fight the bug that got you. Cleansing your body of viruses and bacteria that make you feel lousy improves your health. Your general health is alleviated by drinking water, as well. Consuming the required amount of water each day promotes your body to function as needed to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle.

Drinking at least eight (eight ounce) glasses of water provides the minimum intake you should aim for each day. However, if you are active, overweight, traveling or consuming alcohol – among other things – your body might require more water.

While that might sound like a lot to drink each day, there are some things you can do to make it easier or more appealing. Carry a bottle of water with you throughout the day. Having easy access to water makes it less difficult to get the required amount. If you struggle with the flavor – or lack of it – consider squeezing some lemon or lime into your glass. Flavored waters are also available to make drinking water more enticing, but read the label to make sure you are not taking in other additives like sugar, salt or unwanted calories.

How do you know when your body is in desperate need of water? There are signs to watch out for which indicate dehydration:

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

  • Thirst

  • Dizziness

  • Weakness

  • Rapid heartbeat

  • Dry, flushed skin

  • Muscle cramps

Take action immediately and start drinking some water. If the symptoms persist, contact your doctor, who can offer further advice or special treatment depending on your situation.

Water is an important element that your body depends on every day. Not only is it available for a great value, it offers some spectacular benefits. Improved health, decreased stress, beautiful skin and weight loss are some of the advantages instigated by some regular H2O. Consuming the amount of water you need per day encourages your body to enjoy the health benefits. Grab a glass of water and reap the rewards!
