Small Business Community Applauds Small Biz Tax Proposals from Secretary Clinton (Home Business Magazine)

Measures Will Help Small Businesses Grow, Expand and Ensure Main Street Fuels National Economy

The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for self-employed and micro-businesses, today voiced its strong support for a set of new small business tax proposals released by the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. Specifically, the small business standard business deduction will go a long way in reducing the complexities small businesses face in completing their tax returns.

“A simplified tax code is always better for the long-term survival of small businesses” said Keith Hall, President and CEO, and National Tax Advisor. “Time is key for small businesses – a simplified tax process means job creation, revenue generation and an increase in total overall business activity. Secretary Clinton’s focus on both a standard business deduction and access to health care are two essential tools for the small business community. Offering health care benefits to employees is on point: in fact, we support this in conjunction with the flexibility of Health Reimbursement Arrangements in order to ensure small business stability and health of both their employees and businesses.

“We are eager to hear more concrete proposals from the Secretary as to how she will, on day-one, move to unleash the regulatory constraints that make it difficult for small business owners to thrive. We applaud her efforts to begin this important conversation.

“We are also equally excited to see from Donald J. Trump his proposals for small businesses.”

The House of Representatives has already passed The Small Business Health Care Relief Act, co-sponsored by U.S. Reps. Charles Boustany (R-LA) and Mike Thompson (D-CA), which would allow an employer with fewer than 50 employees not offering group health insurance coverage to establish a health reimbursement arrangement (HRAs) for its employees without penalty. This measure is awaiting action by the U.S. Senate.

The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) is the nation’s leading resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, bringing a broad range of benefits to help entrepreneurs succeed and to drive the continued growth of this vital segment of the American economy. The NASE Small Business Locator helps identify and connect our nation’s smallest businesses. In addition, NASE’s new health care portal helps small business owners navigate the nation’s health care marketplace. The NASE is a 501(c) (6) nonprofit organization and provides big-business advantages to hundreds of thousands of micro-businesses across the United States.
