Washington, D.C., October 4, 2012 – As in many presidential elections, both sides are touting the importance of small business and offering plans to help them grow. The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) is used to hearing lip service from politicians who say they want to help, but rarely follow through with policies for the self-employed.

This year, we decided to send a questionnaire to both President Obama’s and Governor Romney’s camps about what specific policies they would put in place to help the nation’s most plentiful and smallest companies. Click here to read the questionnaire for Pres. Obama and click here to view Gov. Romney’s.

“The NASE and the 22 million self-employed Americans look forward to hearing, for once, directly from the candidates on their plan of action to support, encourage, and ensure the America’s smallest businesses continue to down the path of prosperity,” said Director of Government Affairs Katie Vlietstra. “Both candidates have provided shockingly few details and we believe the candidate questionnaires are constructed in such a matter that will allow them to easily communicate to the voters their goals and objectives. We look forward to receiving their thoughtful responses.”
