NASE CEO Suggests: “If You Have Not Yet Filed Your Tax Return or Paid Any Required Taxes, Do So by July 15th

DALLAS, TX – With the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic having impacted the small business community, the Trump Administration announced last March that the U.S. Treasury and IRS extended both the tax filing deadline and any tax payments to July 15thKeith Hall, the president and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, warned those who have not yet filed their 2019 tax returns to “file your 2019 tax returns and pay any required tax by the upcoming July 15th tax deadline.”

“Given the COVID-19 public health emergency, the IRS allowed for the delay in both filing your 2019 tax returns and making tax payments without interest and penalty for so many small businesses who have been negatively impacted,” said Keith Hall. “If you are a small business who has not yet filed your return or made any required tax payments, you should do so by the deadline of next Wednesday, July 15th. If you are still not ready to file your return, you must file an extension with the IRS to avoid any penalties.”

The extension was a deferment in both the 2019 tax filing deadline and any tax payments to July 15th. For more information, please visit NASE’s COVID-19 resource page.
