From The President: Time To Celebrate

Here at the NASE, we’re not only celebrating a new year, but also the 30th anniversary of the association. Three decades! What a milestone for the association and for the self-employed community.

Our exclusive package of resources has changed over the years to keep pace with the business, health and lifestyle needs of micro-business owners. But one thing has never changed—our commitment to provide you with the information and tools you need to succeed.

In 2011, we’re stepping up our game by offering you more educational tools, more information and more inspiration than ever before. And this issue of Self-Employed will help you step up your game, too.

Start with our cover article on Page 16 where your fellow NASE Members offer tips, advice and ideas for running a better business. The NASE staff even has a few insights to share, gleaned from years of talking to and helping our members.

Next, check out our article about leadership on Page 10. Even a home-based business owner working alone can benefit from learning new leadership skills.

As you prepare to launch changes for your business in a new year, you’ll want to see what the prognosticators are saying about 2011. Get the scoop in our article Forecast 2011 that starts on Page 22.

Like you, the NASE will launch exciting changes in 2011, too. Through the past 30 years, we’ve created new tools, generated new programs and produced new resources for our members. And we’re not stopping now!

One of the first changes we’re making is to go green by transitioning Self-Employed from a print magazine to a digital format. You can read about the upcoming change on Page 24.

In 2011, we’ll roll out more changes designed to give you the information and knowledge you need to run a more profitable, successful business.

I’m looking forward to an exciting year. I hope you are, too.

Sincerely,

Robert Hughes
