Tax Reform Package Must Treat Small Business Fairly and Equally Like Their Corporate Counterparts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Keith Hall, President and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, offered the following comments as the House of Representatives votes today on its tax proposal:

“Millions of small businesses, particularly the self-employed and micro-business business community, are counting on tax reform to inspire both simplification and parity.

“A tax reform package that seeks to promote a more simplified and efficient tax code will ultimately save small businesses time and money, and create the economic growth that only small businesses can sustain. It is also imperative that we ensure an equal playing field between corporations and small businesses. The proposed changes to the tax code would have a significant impact on the over 27 million self-employed and micro-business owners who file their returns as individuals.

“We encourage the House and Senate to work together during an open and transparent conference committee process to produce a bill that not only simplifies the tax code, but also ensures America’s smallest businesses are treated just as fair as their corporate counterparts. We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to ensure the voices of America’s self-employed are heard and considered.”
