New Provisions Include Critical Extensions, Flexibility & Forgiveness

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-business community, today supported new provisions in a revised government aid program in the CARES ACT, the Paycheck Protection Program.

“Small businesses across the country, including the self-employed, sole contractors and our country’s smallest businesses, continue to struggle amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Keith Hall, the president and CEO of NASE. “While the original CARES ACT was both historic and supportive of our community, the new provisions and changes outlined in today’s measure will offer additional extensions, flexibility and forgiveness requirements desperately needed for our nation’s small business community. Now more than ever does this vital part of our economy need it.”

NASE also has an active and updated COVID-19 pandemic resource page for the small business community. As a founding member of the Small Business Roundtable, NASE released a survey along with the group and Facebook highlighting the impact of COVID on the small business community. Hall commented that “it’s no surprise that the small business community has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak,” in reaction to the survey.

“We support this approach along with our coalition partners and urge additional bipartisan financial support for America’s smallest businesses,” concluded Hall.
