2021 TAX FILING SEASON

Now is the Time to Finalize & Submit Returns to Avoid Delays in Any Expected Refunds

DALLAS, TX – With just three weeks until the 2021 tax filing deadline and expected delays at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Keith Hall, the president and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, today encouraged the American public and the small business community to “finalize 2021 tax returns to avoid any further delays to any expected refunds.”

“Now is the time to file you 2021 tax returns, the April 18th tax filing deadline is just around the corner,” said Keith Hall, president and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE)“There have been updates to key policies of the tax code that can benefit you depending on your situation. Ensure you gather your documents, review the updated policies, and don’t leave anything on the table.  With expected delays at the IRS, file as soon as possible to receive any expected refunds without delay. Remember, you are not alone and there are resources out there for help, including NASE.org, IRS.gov and SBA.gov, where information and assistance are readily available.”

“With the surge in self-employment during the pandemic, new small businesses may need some extra help filing their taxes for the first time. Our NASE Minute collection are resources for all small businesses and the American public to consult on a variety of tax and small business information.  They are free and available to the public and we encourage everyone to use them as needed.

Don’t forget about hidden or overlooked deductions by making sure you are not missing any tax advantages that apply to your specific situation and could make a big difference.  Examples of these deductions, include the mileage reimbursement, retirement contributions and the home office deduction.

“And if you still cannot make the deadline and need more time, request an extension so you are not penalized for being late,” concluded Hall.

Hall was recently interviewed by Law360 about the home office deduction and how beneficial it can be for small businesses, and other filers, who can take can take an easy, one check marked box, streamlined deduction for the use of their home for business purposes.
