Encourages all Filers, including Business Owners to File an Extension if Unable to Meet Tuesday’s Midnight Deadline

DALLAS, TX – With one final weekend remaining before Tuesday’s 2022 tax return filing deadline, the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, is encouraging all tax return filers and small business owners who have yet to file to capitalize on these last remaining days.

“With just days until the 2022 tax return filing deadline, millions of Americans – including the small business community – can benefit from a tax code system that includes a lower individual rate and increased standard deduction, and many often overlooked deductions that can benefit bottom lines,” said Keith Hall, President and CEO of NASE.

Taxpayers have until midnight on Tuesday, April 18th to file their 2022 tax returns.  If more time is needed, NASE is encouraging business owners and entrepreneurs to file an extension if they are unable to meet the deadline.

“If you still need more time, file a last-minute extension,” warned Hall.

Hall is nationally recognized small business and tax expert sought by the media and other stakeholders for his expertise and insight. He recently shared his thoughts with Forbes about predictions about the small business community in 2023, while also sharing tax preparation advice with CBS News and in an guest piece with Inc.com.

In the Inc piece, Hall writes:
“If you're close to the deadline and still cannot get your tax filing completed, apply for an extension with the IRS. It's better to get official extra time rather than be fined a penalty for not filing on time. Don't forget that the automatic extension available to all taxpayers is an extension of time to file the return and not an extension of time to pay any that is due. If you expect to owe tax on April 18th, then take a good guess at what you think you might owe and send a check with your extension.”
