Democratic Senators Mary Landrieu (La.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Debbie Stabenow (MI), Evan Bayh (Ind.) and Blanche Lincoln (Ark.) have introduced Tax Equity for the Self-Employed amendment (S. AMDT # 3013), which would allow sole proprietors to deduct as a business expense 50% of their health premium costs. This amendment is under consideration by the Senate for inclusion in the health reform package.

Confidence in health insurance coverage and the ability to access health care increased among American consumers in October, according to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The RWJF Index rose to 104.4 points in October, up from 96.6 points in September.

Young people in 85 countries had the opportunity to explore their potential as self-starters and innovators this month through Global Entrepreneurship Week. Organizers aimed to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity, and to allow them to join a growing movement to generate new ideas and seek better ways of doing things.
