Since 1989, NASE Dependent Scholarship has Awarded More than $1.8 Million in Tuition Assistance

DALLAS, TX
– As back to school season approaches and first year college students across the country prepare to pay rising costs of higher education tuition, the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-business community, today announced the awarding of $12,000 in educational scholarships to four dependents of current NASE members.

The NASE Dependent Scholarship Program is an educational scholarship awarded to the dependent of NASE members to help ease the financial burden of tuition and other costs associated with attending college.  This year, four winners were chose and each will receive $3,000 scholarships from the National Association for the Self-Employed.

“We are excited about helping defray the tuition costs of these four bright, young students continuing their secondary education,” said John Hearrell, NASE’s Vice President of Membership and Affiliate Programs. “With college costs on the rise, it is important that we support the academic endeavors of those interested in pursuing their education. Since 1989, we have awarded more than $1.8 million to our members through our NASE programs.”

This year’s NASE Dependent Scholarship winners are:

  • Dalton Hegeholz, Lincoln, Nebraska.  Dalton will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan University where he plans to major in Biochemistry.
  • Hope Tedrow, Gilbert, Arizona.  Hope will be attending Grand Canyon University where she plans to major in Psychology.
  • Kelly Langford, San Antonio, Texas.  Kelly will be attending The University of Texas at San Antonio where she plans to major in Nursing.
  • Siddhart Agarwal, Windham, New Hampshire.  Siddhart will be attending Tufts University where he plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.

Hearrell continued, “For the last twenty-five years, this scholarship has continued to help defray the costs and ease the burden for many of our self-employed members.  Rising higher education costs continue to affect the bottom lines of all Americans, and for the self-employed and micro-business owner committed to operating a successful business, it can further strain both their family and business’ budgets.”

This award-winning program is open to legal dependents of NASE Members, ages 16-24. To apply, students need to be high school students or college undergraduates planning to enroll in college for the upcoming fall semester.  Consideration is based upon:

  • Leadership abilities
  • Academic performance
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Career and educational background
  • School and community participation
  • Financial need
