Over 19 Million Small Business Applications
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The America’s small business community continues to grow at a record-breaking pace, now accounting for 19 million new small business applications since the beginning of the Biden Administration. The news comes on the heels of a new National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) national small business survey indicating 52 percent of respondents are optimistic of their own small businesses’ future, while also identifying the challenges impacting their success, including health care costs and prescription drug prices, taxes and inflation.
“This is just more good news for the small business community with millions of Americans choosing to become their own boss and start their own small business,” said Keith Hall , president and CEO of NASE. “As one of the first demographics to get to the other side of the pandemic, the small business community continues to illustrate its resilience, determination, and perseverance. This speaks volumes about those in the small business community, including the millions of solo entrepreneurs, mom-and-pop shops, and gig-economy workers who are the heartbeat across our nation.”
NASE also released the findings of its new national State of the Small Business Community survey of 681 small business owners comprised largely of NASE members and other small businesses from allied organizations. The survey, which was previewed in Politico Morning Money, asked self-employed individuals and small business owners to rate current conditions across areas including economic conditions, new technology advancements, public policy issues and retirement benefits, among others.
“Our new, national survey clearly signals that the American small business community continues to gain strength, remains strong, and is optimistic about their business' future – further illustrated by the millions of new entrepreneurs seeking to join our ranks. My message to them is: you are not alone. We are here to help your journey by offering a host of resources, support and tools to ensure you are successful,” concluded Hall.
NASE advocates and gives voice to America’s smallest employers, the self-employed and micro-businesses, before our elected leaders in Washington. In addition, NASE serves as a critical resource for new and existing small businesses in their operations. Specifically, NASE offers a robust Dependent Scholarship program and Growth Grant program – sponsored by AARP, DELL Small Business, and Payanywhere – to Ask The Experts business and tax advice and the NASE Minute video with free business advice online to both members and the public. The association’s goal is to support the small business community to help them to grow and thrive.
