Vlietstra Named Vice President for the National Association for the Self-Employed

Keith Hall, President and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) – the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses - today announced that Katie Vlietstra will be promoted to Vice President for Government Relations and Public Affairs. The newly enhanced position will cover a broad range of activities including managing the Washington, DC office, but also directing all government relations and public affairs activities. Vlietstra was formerly NASE’s Director of Government Affairs.

President’s New Health Care Proposal is “Bad Policy” and “Short-Sighted”

Time to Eliminate Open Enrollment Deadline and Delay Individual Mandate Penalty

As the House Committee on Ways and Means holds a hearing this morning on the Status of the Affordable Care Act Implementation, Katie Vlietstra, Director of Government Affairs for The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, called on the U.S. Congress and the Administration to “immediately eliminate the open enrollment deadline and delay the individual mandate penalty for one-year.” The NASE submitted an official statement for the record for today’s U.S. House Ways and Means Committee hearing that advocates for immediate and swift action eliminating the open enrollment period and delaying the individual mandate penalty.

New Obamacare Data: America’s Smallest Businesses Haven’t Yet Decided If They Will Purchase Health Care on Exchanges

With open enrollment in the nation’s new health care system beginning tomorrow against the backdrop of a potential Federal Government shutdown, The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation’s leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, today released new data from a national survey of its membership showing that more than half (54%) of the 476 respondents haven’t decided if they will purchase health care on the Exchanges. In fact, 64% of the respondents indicated they have yet to even visit the new HealthCare.gov website and 100% of those surveyed answered that price will be a deciding factor in their decision.

The New York Times Uncovers One Year Delay of Consumer Protections in New Health Care Reform Law
