The NASE for many months has been critical of the readiness of Exchanges, both state-operated and federally-facilitated. The reality of the situation is that there is a significant amount of key information missing that would inform America’s smallest businesses and their employees, who purchase coverage in the individual health insurance market, as to how they would comply with the coverage requirements within the new health marketplaces.

On Monday, May 6, 2013, the United States Senate passed S. 743, Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013, by a vote of 69-27 (with four Senators not voting). Requiring catalog and internet merchants to collect and remit sales tax to states. The legislation exempts those companies whose revenue does not exceed $1 million in internet sales.
