NASE President and CEO Avail to Discuss the Need for Bipartisanship to Support a Robust and Strong Small Business Community Ahead of the State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, DC – As President Joseph Biden prepares to give his State of the Union address to a Joint Session of Congress tonight, Keith Hall, the president and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, is available for comment.

“America’s surge in the small business community means we need strong bipartisan cooperation in Washington to ensure our small business community is robust and can continue to grow,” said Keith Hall, president and CEO of National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-business community. “We applaud and welcome these new entrepreneurs into our ranks – but to ensure sustained growth of our community, we need Congress and the Administration to work together in a bipartisan way to create and foster a favorable policy and economic environment for small businesses to expand, save and grow.”

The Small Business Administration (SBA) recently released new Census Bureau Data showing a record-shattering pace of 10.5 million new small business applications over the last two years.

Hall was recently quoted in Forbes about his 2023 predictions for the small business community saying: “the small business community is still in ‘repair and recovery’ mode” now entering the third year of the pandemic. “Regardless of what side of the aisle you are on, the one thing the pandemic taught us was we need a strong and thriving small business community if our economy is going to grow into the future…. I hope Congress works together to support the small business community by adopting ‘pro-small employer, anti-red tape’ policies These new policies need to surgically target small businesses while considering the unique attributes and challenges of our community. There are several 'non-cash' approaches requiring small tweaks to public policies that would go a long way to support the community. These include simplifying the tax code, reducing health care costs, increasing access to capital, and improving retirement options. These 'non-cash' legislative fixes would build a strong and lasting small business community. In addition, we should encourage growth grant programs aimed at jump starting small business innovation happening throughout the country.”
