National Association for the Self-Employed CEO Offers Critical Tax Updates & Changes to the Tax Code in Guest Piece in Inc.com for all Americans, Small Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With just weeks until 2022 tax return filing deadline April 18th, Keith Hall, president and CEO of National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), penned a guest piece in Inc.com about critical tax filing advice reminding the American public, including the small business community, about important changes, updates and reminders this tax season. Most Americans, including those in the self-employed demographic, file their return in the individual rate.

“The tax return filing deadline is quickly approaching – are you ready?” said Keith Hall, president and CEO of National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-business community. “With historic growth in the small business community and many new entrepreneurs filing for the first time, there are critical things everyone filing an individual return should consider. From a lower individual rate to a new standard deduction and updates to potentially beneficial deductions, new and existing small business owners – along with the majority of Americans who file individual returns – should consider as they file their tax returns.”

In the Inc.com piece, Hall discusses:
“Every year, the IRS updates the tax code with relevant changes that could impact a filer's tax return, and ultimately have a major influence on their bottom line. From an increased standard deduction to a more beneficial mileage reimbursement, these changes can result in more dollars in your pocket.”

Hall, a certified public accountant himself, ends the guest piece with an important reminder:
“If you're close to the deadline and still cannot get your tax filing completed, apply for an extension with the IRS. It's better to get official extra time rather than be fined a penalty for not filing on time. Don't forget that the automatic extension available to all taxpayers is an extension of time to file the return and not an extension of time to pay any that is due. If you expect to owe tax on April 18th, then take a good guess at what you think you might owe and send a check with your extension.”
